Kitsch Killers

Kitsch Killers is the graduate collection of my close friend and fellow designer Lucy Hartnell. Lucy asked me to model for her collection which was photographed beautifully by Samantha Eichenberger. I love the 'Charlotte's Toy box print' which adorns the garments and the incredibly flattering babydoll silhouette. The whole aesthetic for Lucy's collection was simply Divine, a complete dream to be a part of:
C: Tell me about your collection....
L: Kitsch Killers is a SS17 collection of baby dolls and paper doll style sailor tops and trousers. My hand painted print 'Charlotte's Toy Box' is the focus of the collection. The print features a young girl (Charlotte) who is terrified of her toys; the toys include a bloody rabbit, rabid bear and a clown holding a hammer!

C: What is the inspiration behind 'Kitsch Killers'?
L: My print was heavily inspired by Mabel Lucie Attwell. Moschino's SS17 collection was a huge influence as well as Olympia Le Tan.

C: Do you have a favourite piece from the collection?
L: I think my favourite piece would be the blue sailor top. It features the sailor collar, my hand painted bow and Charlotte's Toy box print; I feel it really sums up the collection.

C: What process from design to production, do you most enjoy?
L: I've always loved hand painting so creating the Charlotte's Toy Box print was definitely my favourite part of the process.

C: What songs best represent Kitsch Killers?
L: Tonight you belong to me by Patience and Prudence
It's My party and i'll cry if i want to by Lesley Gore
Dollhouse by Melanie Martinez
Home wrecker by Marina and the Diamonds
Don't worry baby by The Beach Boys.

All designs and garments: Lucy Hartnell
