Sunny St.Ives

New Years eve 2016 was the first New Years eve I've had off of work for a good few years. To see the new year in right me and my boyfriend Samuel went to St.Ives for a week with his family; where we stayed in a cottage by the sea. It was a lovely getaway. The cottage was beautiful, and we woke up every morning to the sound of the waves and the seagulls. I love being by the sea as I find it incredibly calming. The first few days were warm enough that you didn't need a coat, and every morning we'd go for a walk on the sand when the tide would start to go out.
St.Ives itself it's lovely. I've never been that far into Cornwall before, and although the journey was long the clear sea and cobbled streets were definitely worth it. We visited St.Michaels Mount and had the most delicious burgers in the Firehouse bar and grill (deffo worth a visit).
The hi light for me however was definitely New Years Eve. Everybody in the town dressed up in fancy dress ( me and sam dressed up as the Joker and Harley Quinn) and paraded by the bars and pubs in the evening. There was a steel drum band that had everyone dancing in the streets, and then when midnight came we all gathered at the harbour to watch the fireworks on the pier.
I'm feeling incredibly positive about 2017. I always do at the start of a new year because I like the prospect of a fresh start. This year i intend to approach everything with more calm and positivity. I also intend to blog more this year; as I've recently changed the design of Honey Darling and I'm a lot happier with it now!
